New Year a New Chapter!

Well they do say there is nothing like a new year to close chapters and bring in new ones! Well so far this applies to me as this year there are going to be so many changes with work and life that I don't know where to start ( hence my silence here and with many of you- you know who you are )

With my work I'm slowly rebranding and going towards the direction my heart has always taken me, which has been to take photographs of what life surrounds me with; be it friends and family, home cooked food, still life to travel. I have many projects I would like to document for future books or exhibitions, but this will be a long process in the making - nevertheless my images will still be available as prints and wall decor to private customers and licensing companies

At present I'm working towards opening for business with outdoor lifestyle portraits and studio for those that wish to, this coming summer. I'm also in the process of expanding my studio so I'll keep you updated with this news too!
In the meantime you will gradually see some changes through my blog with weekly vegetarian and vegan recipes and updates on my new projects ** note -Blog name has also changed from beechgrovestudio to rossananovellajournals.blogspot.com**

As this is not enough, Matt and I (as many of you know) have been in a very long process for adoption and hopefully I shall have some exciting news to share with you all very soon!

Loving Our Summertime ...

What was your weekend like?

Lately I have...

*Enjoyed cooking for friends followed by dinner in our back yard
*Found time to chill under a tree to avoid full sun of 45'C and start reading my new book
*Got up at 6 am to go for a run and enjoyed it!
*Listened to old CD's I forgot I had
*Had a drink at my old pub in Notting Hill with good old Alex that is over visiting from NY
*Laughed tons reminiscing old times with good friends over Pimm's
*Shopped in my local farmers market for lots of delicious fruit and veggies, took photos and then cooked them!

New Look to my Online Portfolio

Having time to focus on re-branding, websites and general admin is a rarity for me these days, so having had the last 24hrs to focus on my little projects that needed attention has been great for the mind! At last I have been able to adjust a few things to my new online portfolio with a new look to my home page and more information on my about page. Look out for my new online shop coming next week! Have a lovely weekend wherever you are :-)

New Portraits Project

Lately I have been working towards a new project close to my heart - Portraits. It has always been my passion to take images of people. I have endless boxes that take me through decades of countless visual story telling, but in the last couple of months I have taken this dream seriously by learning new techniques and taking it to the next level, professionally, so watch this space soon!

Home Products Photo Shoot -Part 2

As I mentioned in my last post I'm working on my new website and catalogue which has inspired me to take new images of my products. A new project that I've been enjoying tremendously as interiors and styling has always been one of my interests!

So much time, thought and work goes into taking an image that sometimes when flicking through the lovely images in interior magazines I have taken for granted.

So having just had a little taster I'm willing to learn and pursue this new venture even if it is for fun- so watch this space :-)

Home Photo Shoot - Part 1

Today being such a lovely sunny day it inspired me to take photos of my products for the new website and catalogue.

I used corners of our home as a canvas to promote the new cushion and print collection aiming to create a lifestyle image...

It became quite a full on day ( more than I envisaged) and a little bit exhausting towards the end, but I thoroughly enjoyed it !

Now I have to go back and work through some more editing; above is a little sneak preview of what I have done so far...

New Furniture venture

Those of you that know me very well are aware my love for furniture restoration and painting goes back to my teens. I first got inspired when I used to be visit my mums Art studio in Barcelona that she shared with my Aunt Rosa, also an Artist. The workshop was in the centre of hustle and bustle of the city at the top of a beautiful old building. To get there you had to climb narrow old steps right to the fifth floor. It was a big apartment with lovely old tile floor, beans in the ceiling and a great view of the city. My mom used to teach furniture restoration there where I used to spend hours just looking around.I was fascinated by all the art and things being created around me, the smell of fresh paint and shelves of numerous tools and paint brushes.
Since then I have collected through the years lots of furniture from my travels which have painted /restored and distressed from the techniques taught by my mother back then. My room mates and now husband have always complained of the amount of furniture that I seem to accumulate. I tend to keep most of it although have sold some to friends and neighbors but always needed and outlet to sell it from and at the same time give out home a bit of space !
Thankfully to Matt's delight, I have managed to find such a place in my local village beautiful shop called Whimsical. So if you happen to be in the area do pop in and say hi to lovely Kelly- Ann and have a browse of many things she has for gifts and home. Enjoy!
