Loving Our Summertime ...

What was your weekend like?

Lately I have...

*Enjoyed cooking for friends followed by dinner in our back yard
*Found time to chill under a tree to avoid full sun of 45'C and start reading my new book
*Got up at 6 am to go for a run and enjoyed it!
*Listened to old CD's I forgot I had
*Had a drink at my old pub in Notting Hill with good old Alex that is over visiting from NY
*Laughed tons reminiscing old times with good friends over Pimm's
*Shopped in my local farmers market for lots of delicious fruit and veggies, took photos and then cooked them!

A day of chillin...

Last week has been total madness with tons of work deadlines and socialising six evenings in a row!
Today  was national holiday here in the UK, so I took the opportunity to sit in the sunshine with a cup of tea and a good book - total indulgence ! Tomorrow back in the studio to prepare stock for this coming Saturday's art fair...How was your weekend?

Malvern Hills Escapade

Back from Malvern after a 24 hr visit to our lovely friends, kids and dogs- Just what the doctor ordered after non stop work in the studio ( literally ! ) I'm now  ready to create new designs, projects and paintings for my upcoming online shop
This morning we were all up so early that a walk in the famous Malvern Hills beckoned. Having never been up there, the nearly mountainous landscape and wild flowers evoked all sort of sweet childhood memories from my Easter vacations in the Spanish Pyrenees. And, yes !! Although the images might give you an idea we are in the middle of Autumn here in England, this is what a British summer actually looks like ! :-)

Weekend in Devon

Mrng ! Now back from our weekend away in Devon from visiting our friends.
It was a long journey due to a lot of traffic so whilst Matt was driving I tried to give it a shot to take some pictures of the beautiful countryside and lovely yellow fields...I think they came out surprisingly well ...

Countryside  narrow roads taking us through  quintessential English villages

Archie showing us through their amazing farm

Cool tree house... Definitely any kids dream, I know it was always mine!!

One of their super cute orphan lambs...This one is one week old

There's always a debate at home about where to live in the near future. Although we live in the countryside near London the question is whether to go and live in a more rural area or back in the city...I love the countryside and I'm a total animal lover but there's not a happier place in my heart than the big old smoke !!!
I know it sounds crazy to some but I think it could be partly to where you grew up and where your roots are... Somehow I don't think this long debate that goes back some years  will ever be resolved :-(

If you happen to be in London this weekend you might want to pop in the National Portrait Gallery and check the current photographic exhibition"An Englishman in New York" by Jason Bell. British born photographer living in New york was inspired by some of the 120,000 British men and women living in the big Apple. Jason has photographed leading figures setting the cultural agenda in the city such as; Kate Winslet, Writter Zoe Heller and Sting are to name a few. The exhibition runs until 11 of April 2011.
Have a great weekend whatever you are doing, the sunshine is great here but I'm afraid is a work all weekend for me preparing for my exhibition in London next week.

My Sunday movie...

Many of you know from my previous post, Sunday afternoon is my movie time, although this weekend I had to give it a miss in order to celebrate friends birthdays, Mel and Piers ( fab friends & hosts, which was lovely to spend quality time with them) so as my regular posting of movie talk, I thought I'd mention my anticipated excitement for Woody Allen's forthcoming movie set in Barcelona. Those that know me very well will know by now I'm a huge Woody fan ( I know - you either love him or not ) but to me he is a genius & to have a movie set in one of my hometowns that is very close to my heart with one of my favourite Spanish actors Javier Bardem , well what can I say ??...
The name of the movie is Vicky Cristina Barcelona . I shall post the date of cinema release when announced for those Woody Allen fans...Have a good week.

My weekends ( now )

Having been living in cities most of my life, I'm a city girl at heart, or I thought so...
My weekends in London would consist of : Saturday morning brunch in Notting Hill catching up with friends, a stroll in Portobello Market buying some exotic fruit & veg, evenings at a pub, dinner or funky party, Sundays checking out a gallery, movie or stroll in the Park .Since I've been living in the countryside it has taken me a long time to adjust to another way of life...until recently !!..now I'm starting to embrace this peaceful way of life and learning new things that nature has to offer by planting a range of fruit & vegetables ( organic lifestyle in my own doorstep) I can tell you I never thought I would enjoy it so much and finding it so rewarding watching every day how a tomato plant grows even baking my own wheat free bread is a delight, it makes me realize how we take so many things for granted in life, I now see life in a different way.
I know that a lot of people that know me very well when reading this will be very astonished ...I am too...then again...I think I might have to pop into London ..next week?..

Cambridge @ the weekend

After all these months of madness & non- stop working ( not complaining though) it was utterly fantastic to be able to get away for 48 hrs at the weekend! Matt and I had a lovely time in Cambridge, although a shame for the rain, but managed to get a few pics, check out some nice bookstores and cake shops too...back at the studio now feeling re-energized for the months ahead..
