Summer fun...

OK...I thought I'd leave the floral theme for a bit and share with you some fabulous images via
the sartorialist from his photographic series called "On the Street......Dance Day Sunday, Governor's Island" . They all seem to be having sooooo much fun !! I would love it if we had some parties like this in the UK...if anyone knows of any, please let me know..not that I'm a good dancer at all ;-))

Poppy love...

I know, I know..I'm in a very "floral " stage...it must be summer time that does this to me!

Good old charity shops..

Looking through my apartment last night I realized that most of my house decor is either being given to me, purchased on my travels, found in flea markets or charity shops. I personally think you can get more of an individual look and reflect your own personality that way than decorating your home with brand names from top to bottom-each to their own though.
This week I'm going to create a post collection of some of my most treasured finds. So today I start by paying homage to the good old charity shops. Last week I was on my way to get some milk when I got distracted and bought more than a few tea sets that I had in mind in my local charity shop ( having been spotted by my mother as we were driving in the car the day before...-she never misses a trick !) Although, funnily enough I spotted the cabinet a few months ago in the car as Matt was driving the car...so mother like daughter I suppose, which incidentally I got the cabinet for good old £5 !! So when you are next walking or driving pass a charity shop do have a peek as you never know what little treasures you might find and also you are helping some charity fund for a good cause. To find more about your local charity shops in the UK read here.

Out with the new in with the old...

A bit of natural yogurt does the trick!

As I was early this morning sorting out my little flower pots I thought I'd share a tip for those of you that might like the old, distressed look in flower pots and totally dislike the new. I personally I love it as reminds me of strolling in the Mediterranean villages surrounded by flower pots outside the houses or window sills that have been there a few good many years. I was once let in a little secret of how to achieve the look...it is so simple ! all you have to do is paint the new terracotta pots in natural yogurt, wait a few weeks and see the results !

A celebration for those that love reading...

If you are like me and love finding a special moment and place to read, be it your favourite sofa chair by the window as its raining outside, garden amongst your flower pots, train journey, local cafe or park and at the same time observing walkers by with your favourite coffee and cake ... You'll enjoy this exhibition of photographs coming up next month at the photographers gallery in London by André Kertész (1894 - 1985) one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century..
Hi images were taken between 1915 and 1980 in countries he traveled through, visited, lived and worked such as Argentina, France, Hungary, UK and USA. Capturing readers of all ages in various locations -on rooftops & balconies, in parks, on crowded streets, at train stations, in libraries - creating a poetic study of the act of reading.
"Kertész’s photographs are a celebration of the absorptive power and pleasure of reading" Photographers gallery. I personally can't wait !

My Sunday Movie...

As some of you might know by now, when possible I try and stick to my Sunday afternoon plan and catch up with the magic world of the movies. Whether it is on DVD or cinema, preferably the later one...Sundays is a must!
Yesterday I finally managed to see Vicky Cristina Barcelona, set in one of my three hometowns, by one of my ultimate favourite film directors-yes I know!...I have mentioned him before, good old Woody Allen. A charming movie with great cinamatographic backdrop and its complex characters a la Woody style. Vicky Cristina Barcelona is the best movie Woody Allen has made in years. Although 2006's Match Point was just as brilliant. If you are a fan give this one a try...

Beautiful Peonies

Here I'm back again...where does the time go???...
Last weekend we had our lovely friends Dom & Amanda come to visit from London with their gorgeous boy William and super gorgeous new born daughter Catlin. The weather was so perfect that we decided to celebrate the start of summer with a picnic.Thank you both for the amazing peonies!! They were looking so beautiful in my living room and today, a week later, I just got in time to take some photos before the petals just dropped out...
